Undergraduate Interns

Ashleigh Washington

I am an incoming senior at Boston University, majoring in Psychology with minors in Autism Studies and Deaf Studies. My academic and professional interests center on the intersection of cultural competence, disability advocacy, and developmental research, particularly how these areas can inform more equitable educational policy and assessment practices. I am especially interested in interning at the Center for Measurement Justice because of its commitment to advancing inclusive, justice-oriented assessment practices that better support historically marginalized and minoritized students.

Ayanna Lee

I am a rising junior at UC Berkeley studying Cognitive Science with a minor in Public Health, and I am excited to intern with the Center for Measurement Justice because I am passionate about advancing educational equity and ensuring that research and assessment practices reflect and support the diverse experiences of all learners. Growing up in a rural community and working with underserved populations has shown me how educational opportunities and outcomes are largely shaped by systemic inequities, sparking my interest in working to create equitable systems of assessment. Through this internship, I hope to learn more about justice-oriented measurement and how community voice can be incorporated into research and assessment practices. I am especially interested in understanding how these approaches can be applied beyond educational assessment and into my other areas of work, including cognitive science, public health, and community-based research.

Navya Malik

I am an international student from India majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and I am passionate about advancing my knowledge in AI and applying it to real world problems, especially in schools and teaching, as I aspire to become a professor. I am interested in interning with the Center for Measurement Justice because I want to contribute to impactful, justice oriented research while gaining hands-on experience in using technology and data to create meaningful change in education.

Nazifa Begum

I am interested in interning at the Center for Measurement Justice (CMJ) because with my long-term goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I believe the ability to critically evaluate the tools used to assess, diagnose, and support individuals is foundational to ethical and effective practice. I am excited to contribute to projects that help ensure assessment tools accurately reflect and serve diverse human experiences. Through this internship, I hope to gain meaningful hands-on experience and strengthen the skills that will support my future work in social work and advocacy.
